BHP Billiton expects to book $4.9-billion writedown on U.S. shale assets
BHP Billiton has announced an expected impairment charge of approximately $4.9 billion post-tax—approximately $7.2 billion pre-tax—against the carrying value of its onshore U.S. assets.
